Summary
This is an oral history interview with Roy Murray conducted as part of the Houston History Project. Captain Roy Murray, Jr. began his maritime career with U.S. Merchant Marine before WWII. He sailed on cargo vessels during the war and became a captain at 25 years old. He came to the Port of Houston in 1947 and worked for Lykes Brothers as their Port Captain. In 1950 he joined the Houston Pilots where he retired more than 30 years later. Interviewer: Jason P. Theriot.
